LawAOS can run the day-to-day practice of a Canadian law firm: matters, time, invoices in Canadian dollars, client trust ledgers with a guided three-way reconciliation, a general ledger with legal reports, and client intake. It is a general legal practice platform, and it does not ship province-specific trust rules, sales tax logic or Canadian data hosting.
Three facts decide fit for most Canadian firms. The primary application database is hosted in Asia-Pacific (Sydney), so client data is stored outside Canada. Invoices carry one tax percentage per invoice, so GST, HST, PST and QST are not calculated as separate taxes. And the subscription is billed in US dollars.
LawAOS makes no PIPEDA or law society compliance claim. A firm should check its law society's trust accounting and records rules, and its privacy obligations, before it moves client data. The privacy policy, DPA and security page describe where data is held.
Firms searching for legal accounting software in Ontario or elsewhere in Canada usually want one place for fees, disbursements, trust and the books. LawAOS includes a one-click 24-account legal chart of accounts the firm can edit, and journals post automatically from invoices, payments, credit notes, expenses, trust transactions, payroll and deposit batches.
Reports include Profit and loss on an accrual or cash basis, Balance sheet, Trial balance, Aged receivables, Matter profitability and a Books integrity check. Bank reconciliation works by importing a bank statement CSV and matching lines to journals, and sign-off is refused while anything is unmatched. The financial year start month is set by the firm.
- Paralegal teams
- Where a province licenses paralegals, a paralegal practice or a paralegal in a law firm works in LawAOS as a member with a role that sets which modules they can use. The firm decides what each role may do under its regulator's rules.
- Client relationship management
- Contacts keep relationships, activity and notes, and a true merge re-points matters and invoices. Intake tracks leads through Prospect, Initial Meeting, Proposal Sent, Negotiation, Won and Lost, with referrals and activities.
- Your firm's legal terms
- Firm legal terminology settings rename labels such as the legal professional, the court or tribunal and the client funds account, so staff see the words the firm uses.
- Time zones and dates
- Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Halifax and St. John's time zones are available, with date format set per firm and per user.

Stated plainly, so you can decide before you sign up rather than after.
- Client data is stored in Asia-Pacific (Sydney); there is no Canadian data residency, and LawAOS makes no PIPEDA compliance claim.
- There is no GST, HST, PST or QST logic; an invoice carries one tax percentage.
- No provincial law society trust rules or forms ship; the client-funds checklist is generic.
- Payroll calculates no CPP, EI or income tax; those are entered as deductions.
- There is no QuickBooks or Xero integration and no live bank connection; bank reconciliation uses a statement CSV.
