Invoices, trust and reconciliation in one system. LawPay stays the specialist for trust-safe card processing.
A sourced comparison

LawPay is a payment processor for law firms with a published monthly fee and per-transaction rates. LawAOS is a practice platform: it raises invoices, records payments, keeps trust ledgers and takes card payments through the firm's own Stripe account once connected.

LawPay's pricing page lists $19/month plus per-transaction rates, and its pages describe trust-account-safe processing. LawAOS does not process payments itself; it records them against invoices, posts them to the ledger and, with Stripe Connect set up, gives clients a pay link.

LawPay facts read on LawPay's own site in September 2026, each linked under the table. LawAOS cells name shipped modules.

Choose LawAOS when
You want invoicing, trust ledgers, three-way reconciliation and the general ledger in one place, and you are content to take cards through your own Stripe account.
Choose LawPay when
You need card processing designed around trust and operating account separation, eCheck, or client financing, or your practice software already integrates with it.

LawPay's pages cover processing and invoicing. Reconciliation and the ledger live elsewhere; in LawAOS they are in the product.

Every panel below is rendered from the product’s own components with fictional records for Okafor & Byrne LLP.

Payments settle against the invoice

Part payments set an invoice to Partial and full payment to Paid, from the payments recorded. Overpayments become client credit, not a negative balance.

Client money reconciles three ways

Each client has a ledger. The database refuses a drawdown larger than the client's cleared balance, and a filed three-way reconciliation compares the statement, the book and the sum of client ledgers.

Every LawAOS cell names a shipped module. Every LawPay cell comes from LawPay's own pages, read in September 2026; a row those pages do not mention says "not confirmed".

  1. LawAOS

The payment lands in the books

A recorded payment updates the invoice status, posts to the general ledger and shows in aged receivables and collection figures.

  2. LawAOS

Trust is reconciled where it is kept

Client ledgers, cleared and uncleared funds and three-way reconciliation live in LawAOS, next to the matter.

  3. LawPay

    Where LawPay is ahead

LawPay is built around keeping trust and operating funds apart at the processor, offers eCheck and client financing, and integrates with many practice systems. LawAOS does not process payments itself.
