For Lawyers, timekeepers, and billing reviewers

Keep hourly capture effortless, and do not force timers onto flat, contingency, custom, or pro bono work.

Use the running timer when it is the easiest accurate capture, or add a manual entry from Time and Billing. Link the matter, describe the work in client-appropriate language, choose billable treatment and activity code where required, and submit it for review.

Time suggestions are proposals that require review; they should never silently become billable entries.

Flat fees can use agreed amounts and fee milestones without time capture. Contingency fees depend on the recorded agreement and outcome inputs. Custom arrangements should preserve their calculation terms. Pro bono work may be non-billable while still using optional time for capacity or impact reporting.

The platform should not burden the lawyer with a billing log that does not determine the fee. Tasks, documents, communications, milestones, expenses, and completed outcomes remain the work evidence.

Use Approval for submitted entries requiring review. Pre-bill brings approved billable work and configured fee milestones into billing preparation. LEDES is available for clients that require the format and should be validated against their coding and file rules.

Each Time and Billing workflow section has a stable URL so a reviewer can return to the exact queue.
