A workstream is a board that contains tasks. Link it to the matter when its outcome belongs to that client work. Use child tasks for independently completable steps rather than turning one task description into an unchecked list.
Assign the person who owns the next action, set a useful due date, and attach or link the evidence needed to complete it. Comments record decisions close to the work.
Task due dates manage team execution. Docket and limitation records represent legal dates and their computation or source. Calendar brings dates into schedules, but it should not replace the docket evidence behind a legal deadline.
When a deadline changes, record the authorized adjournment or change reason rather than silently replacing history.
Tasks, child tasks, assignees, completion, comments, and linked artifacts become part of the matter's work story. Hourly work can link to time entries; fixed and contingency work can rely on completed work and fee milestones without forcing a timer.
Review the matter report before sharing a work summary with an administrator or client.
